Advice on Choosing your Wedding Venue
Choosing your wedding venue
A lot of this advice may sound like simple common sense but there are so many things that need organising with a wedding that it can be easy to overlook the obvious!
Do you want a Church Wedding, a Registry Office Ceremony or a Civil Ceremony at the wedding venue?
Decide on the scale of your wedding. Will you need a large wedding venue or something more intimate?
Decide how many guests you're going to invite. Is the venue big enough to cater for the amount of guests? Make sure you don't select somewhere that can't accommodate everybody. Conversely, if the venue is too large for the number of guests it can change the atmosphere for the worst!
Do you require an evening reception with music or entertainment? Some wedding venues impose limitations on evening receptions or may lack the facilities if you want to book a band for the evening reception.
Do you need accommodation for yourself or your guests? If you do, is there accommodation on site or is there a hotel nearby?
If it's going to be a church wedding, try not to have the reception venue too far away. Remember, the guests will all have to find their way from one to the other!
Is there anywhere indoors for photography to take place if the weather is bad?
If you're very budget-conscious make sure you get a quotation that includes catering if applicable. Some wedding venues will insist on using their own caterer so make sure you find out all the charges.
